15th Annual Children’s Hospital Radiothon in Regina Raises Over $450,000

The 15th Annual Children’s Hospital Radiothon presented by CIBC Wood Gundy wrapped up this afternoon, raising an impressive $450,578.20 over just two short days. The 23-hour event, broadcast live on 620 CKRM, MY92.1 and 104.9 The Wolf from the lobby of Hill Tower II in Regina, saw Regina resident Shirley Loziak step forward on Day One to match donations up to $20,000. Since it began, the Children’s Hospital Radiothon has raised over $4.8 million.

“The people of this province continue to humble and amaze us with their ongoing support of mothers, children, and families, in hospital, says Brynn Boback-Lane, President and CEO of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. “With less than two years left until the doors open on Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, we are incredibly grateful to everyone supporting us in this crucial push to ensure our new provincial hospital has the right equipment, expertise, and family-friendly environment for families in need.”

“Harvard Broadcasting Regina’s support towards the hospital is something we firmly believe has been needed in the province of Saskatchewan since the announcement of the plans for the facility over 15 years ago,” says Jason Huschi, General Manager of Harvard Broadcasting in Regina. “From myself, and the rest of the management and staff of Harvard Broadcasting Regina, we would like to thank everyone who has supported this very worthwhile cause over the last 15 years. We would also like to thank all those who will continue to support this hospital in the years to come.”

In addition to raising funds for Saskatchewan’s new Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital which will open in 2019, donations from this year’s event will help purchase two urgently needed equipment pieces for the busy provincial Pediatric Transport Team which makes over 550 trips a year:

*A Transport Isolette for Saskatchewan’s most vulnerable babies weighing less than 4 kg. A first for the transport team, the Isolette is designed to meet the significant challenge of keeping a small baby’s temperature stabilized during transport, especially important during cold Saskatchewan winters.

*A second Transport Ventilator so that the transport team no longer has to pump a breathing bag by hand for each breath when trips overlap.

“On behalf of CIBC Wood Gundy, I would like to thank everyone for making the Children’s Hospital Radiothon presented by CIBC Wood Gundy a success. The children of our province will soon have access to a world-class hospital that is located in Saskatchewan,” says Kevin Punshon, Branch Manager, First Vice-President and Investment Advisor at CIBC Wood Gundy. “Your generous contributions and volunteer hours are again a tribute to how Saskatchewan people help one another to build a better future. The children of Saskatchewan thank you too!”

The Foundation would like to thank presenting sponsor CIBC Wood Gundy, the many volunteers, donors, and families across Saskatchewan, along with sponsors K + S Potash, CP, PotashCorp, Viterra, Daytona Homes, RONA, Affinity Credit Union, Fidelity Investments, Save On Foods, Capital Auto, SaskMilk, Air Canada Foundation, SaskTel, and Harvard Broadcasting media partners – 620 CKRM, MY92.1, and 104.9 The Wolf.
