Since the first Radiothon, 22 years ago, over $16.41 million has been raised for Saskatchewan moms and kids in hospital.

On November 5th & 6th, we’ll share inspiring stories from kids, families, medical professionals, supporters and sponsors from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Together everyone will play a part in making the Radiothon a success and help enhance maternal and children’s health care in our province.

  • Some children require specialized tests like at-home blood pressure monitoring or sleep studies to better understand their heart or lung condition.
  • Fetal heart monitoring can indicate the urgency of delivery for newborns.
  • Neonatal intensive care unit patients may require respiratory support for days or weeks

Providing better access to cardiac equipment and care

Revolutionize Cardiac Care: Enabling faster and more accurate diagnoses for young cardiac patients through advanced ultrasounds and specialized heart tests, ensuring timely and effective treatment.

  • Innovative equipment like the Transesophogeal ECHO Probe plays a vital role in diagnosing heart defects and evaluating cardiac function in patients from newborns to 17 years old.
  • State-of-the-art Automatic Blood Pressure Monitors provide precise readings, supporting the early diagnosis and effective treatment of high blood pressure in children and youth.

Providing better access to respiratory equipment and care

  • Transform Respiratory Health: Providing cutting-edge tools for the diagnosis and management of various breathing disorders including asthma, cystic fibrosis, sleeping disorders, premature lung disorders, and congenital airway anomalies.
    • Advanced equipment like the Babylog NICU Ventilator is specially engineered for newborns struggling to breathe on their own, delivering gentle ventilation to ensure safe, compassionate care for our most fragile patients.
    • High-Frequency Jet Ventilators are tailored for premature babies weighing less than 1,000 grams, providing life-saving support when it’s needed most.

Saving kids lives with cutting-edge technology

  • The pediatric team provides advanced therapies like high flow oxygen therapy and non-invasive ventilation, helping kids breathe easier.
  • Advanced technology like the Natus headbox is one of the most important pieces of equipment used within the Children’s Sleep Lab at JPCH. The headbox receives sleep data which is then sent to the software program to be analyzed by the team. This equipment is essential in the diagnosis of sleep disturbances, as well as evaluating any prescribed treatments, like medications or respiratory support used while sleeping.
    • Children from birth to age 17 can have a sleep study done with these amazing devices.
  • For physicians, hearing and seeing a tracing of the heart provides a great depth of information about the health of a baby as well as the pregnancy. Enhancements like fetal monitors are vital equipment used in assessments and are fundamental in labour and birth. The information is used to determine how quickly an infant may need to be delivered or how best to manage labour effectively.
    • Last year, there were 5,330 babies born at JPCH. That’s over 100 every week!

Enhancing the skills of medical professionals

  • Patient simulation equipment is the best way to teach, learn and practice critical emergency-care skills to ensure medical teams are well-prepared to handle complex situations.
    • The Sim Doll is a specially equipped mannequin that will be used for partner respirology training sessions so communities are ready when every second counts.
