15th Annual Children’s Hospital Radiothon Raises $431,409
Children and families who have spent time in hospital proved to be remarkable inspiration for listeners of the 15th Annual Children’s Hospital Radiothon presented by your local SaskEnergy Network Member. The three-day event broadcast live on 600 CJWW, 92.9 The Bull, and 98COOL FM raised $431,409.60.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who listened to the compelling stories from children and families across the province and responded to their need,” says Brynn Boback-Lane, President and CEO of the Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan. “Your generous support is not only helping build our province’s first maternal and children’s hospital, but is also providing moms and kids with critical equipment needed right now. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!”
Funds raised at this year’s event will support a 4D ultrasound for maternal care, along with an INVOS machine to help protect the brains of newborn babies, and an AEEG Monitoring system for early detection seizures in high-risk premature babies.
“On behalf of SaskEnergy Network Members, I would like to congratulate the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan on another successful Radiothon. It has been inspiring to hear the stories of many children and families who continue to rise above the health challenges greatly affecting their lives. Once it opens, the children’s hospital will be able to provide such a great service to these families,” says Ken Strohan of Saskatoon’s Razor Heating and A/C. “Thank you to the volunteers and Radiothon organizers who make this initiative possible. Our SaskEnergy Network Members are proud to have provided a final boost to the total with a cheque for $25,000.”
Since it began in 2003, the Children’s Hospital Radiothon has raised over $5.1 million for both urgent pediatric equipment needs and the province’s new maternal and children’s hospital, which is on schedule to open in late 2019.
