Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan gift $65K for kids in hospital

The Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan are helping our province’s youngest patients with a generous gift of $65,000.

The donation will go towards a Nourishment Room on the pediatric floor of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, as well as helping sponsor a Power Hour during Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon for the next three years.

“Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan is honoured to be able to support Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital,” said Adam Berenik, Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan Producer Programs Manager. “We are extremely happy to be able to make this contribution to the hospital, which will impact families all across the province. We hope that with our donation towards the Nourishment Room, families will be more comfortable at the hospital, during what could be difficult times.”

The Nourishment Room is stocked with appropriate food items to provide patients with healthy snack and beverage options in between meals, offering a touch of normalcy to a patient’s day. Located on the second floor of the hospital within the Pediatric Inpatient Unit, this special space cares for children and families who are staying overnight, helping patients and caregivers stay fueled as they heal and cope. This dedicated room helps bring a home environment to the hospital, featuring a kitchen-style sink, along with cupboards, a refrigerator, and other appliances.

In addition to helping nourish children while in hospital, Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan will also inspire other donations from across the province as a Power Hour matching sponsor of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon.

The exciting two-day event held on Nov. 4 and 5 this year is broadcast live on multiple radio stations from across Saskatchewan. With the help of Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan, radio listeners will have the chance to double their gift, generating even more funding towards urgent maternal ad pediatric equipment, innovative research and provincial programming.

Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan is a farmer-run, non-profit organization representing 68 registered chicken growers in the province. Most of the farms are family-based production units that have been passed down through generations and take pride in producing healthy and nutritious food to help feed Saskatchewan.

“It seems fitting that as spring arrives and hope is in the air, Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan have made a commitment of $65,000 toward Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. These funds will be used to support the important work that our Foundation continues to provide children and moms-to-be throughout the province,” said Brynn Boback-Lane, President and CEO of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. “As these farmers dedicate their lives to producing quality food to feed our families, we are thrilled that this donation will allow for a Nourishment Room within JPCH, which symbolizes the commitment of Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan. A wonderful gift with a healthy purpose, of which we are so grateful.”
