Children’s Hospital Radiothon raises more than $640,000 for pediatric kidney care

People from across the province came together to help kids needing kidney care by raising $641,157 in just two short days during the province-wide Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon.

Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon presented by CIBC Wood Gundy was broadcast by 23 radio stations from across Saskatchewan. Donations from this year’s event will be used to help open the very first pediatric Hemodialysis Unit for kids right here in Saskatchewan as part of the Children’s Kidney Health Program. In addition to the Hemodialysis Unit, funds will also be used to support the creation of Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring satellite sites across the province for kids with high blood pressure due to kidney failure.

“Thank you Saskatchewan from the bottom of our hearts. We are truly grateful to each person who took the time to call or went online to make a meaningful donation this year’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon. Every miracle that happens through the new pediatric Hemodialysis Unit at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital is because of your generosity,” said Brynn Boback-Lane, President and CEO of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We couldn’t have done this without our amazing Saskatchewan radio station family. Thanks to all for supporting this important initiative.”

Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation extends its thanks to presenting sponsor CIBC Wood Gundy, along with the many volunteers, donors, and families across Saskatchewan who joined this year’s event. The Foundation would also like to thank event sponsors CP, SaskTel, Save on Foods, Saskatchewan Blue Cross, Affinity Credit Union, Crescent Point, Viterra, GMR Electric, Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation, Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan, Enbridge, Schaan Healthcare, Federated Co-op, Geransky Bros. Construction, CommAlert, as well as all of our broadcasting media partners.

“On behalf of CIBC Wood Gundy, I would like to thank the people of Saskatchewan for their continued generosity in supporting the Jim Pattison Hospital Radiothon. Your donations will allow families from across this province access to timely and specialized care. We at CIBC Wood Gundy believe that the children of Saskatchewan’s health and well-being is one of the most important causes that we can make a contribution toward. Thank you again for your commitment to the same cause,” said Todd Dixon, Branch Manager, CIBC Wood Gundy Regina Branch.

More than $13.94 million has been raised for Saskatchewan kids and moms in hospital since the very first Radiothon 19 years ago.
