Daphne Arnason and Leo Bourassa make a generous donation to Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation

Daphne Arnason and Leo Bourassa are well-known across Saskatchewan for their generosity and community support. Most recently, a donation to Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation will be recognized with a Pediatric Surgery Recovery Room named in their honour.

Daphne and Leo have four grown children, and recently had a grandson born at Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH). When asked why they made a donation, Daphne and Leo said they feel a sense of responsibility to help families in our community.

“It is not difficult to envision a situation where our circle of family and friends could find themselves in sudden and urgent need of the services. Most of us have first-hand knowledge of someone, or someone’s family that has benefitted from the services it provides,” Daphne said.

Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital is home to the province’s only dedicated pediatric surgical suites connecting specialized care to provincial patients with 53.7%* of surgeries for children from outside the Saskatoon area. This critical department performed over 3,600* surgeries last year, with that number only increasing.

The Pediatric Surgery Recovery Rooms are 100% private, designed for infants, children, adolescents and their caregivers. The child-friendly imagery and soothing colored lighting, provides a comfortable space for young patients and their caregivers to prepare for and recover from surgery. Daphne and Leo say they are honoured to help ensure Saskatchewan families receive the best specialized medical care, right here at home.

“The children’s hospital is a cause with a common and relatable interest to parents and grandparents with young and growing families. This is the case for us, and we hope it will be something we will share in as a family now and in years to come,” Daphne said.
