First-ever ‘Make Mom’s Day’ Campaign to Celebrate Mother’s Day and Support Maternal Health

With Spring arriving in Saskatchewan, so has the season of celebrating moms. For the first time ever, Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation, Shoppers Drug Mart and Hillberg & Berk have partnered to give Saskatchewan moms a memorable Mother’s Day gift while also supporting maternal health needs in the province.

The ‘Make Mom’s Day’ campaign launched on April 30 and encourages people across Saskatchewan to celebrate Mother’s Day in a unique way – by picking out a card at pattisonchildrens.ca to send to a new mom in hospital. The cards will be printed and hand-delivered on Mother’s Day to new moms for their very first Mother’s Day gift. As a special added touch, each card submitted through the website will be paired with a $5 donation to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation from Shoppers Drug Mart through it’s SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU. program.

“Shoppers Drug Mart is proud to partner with Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation on this inaugural Mother’s Day Campaign supporting maternal health in our communities,” says Lisa McIntosh, Associate-Owner at Shoppers Drug Mart. “Our SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU. program is an encouragement to women everywhere to make their own health a priority, because at Shoppers Drug Mart, we believe that when Canadian women are strong, we’re all stronger.”

To honour moms across Saskatchewan this Mother’s Day, Hillberg & Berk have added a special “Give a Little, Get a Little,” component of the ‘Make Mom’s Day’ campaign. Those wishing to send a card to moms in hospital are also able to make a donation of $50 or more to receive a $30 promo card from Hillberg & Berk.

“We create beautiful jewelry not only to help women capture their unique sparkle, but also to support causes dedicated to women’s empowerment,” says Michael-Anne Angus on behalf of Hillberg and Berk. “From our culture of community engagement and partnerships, every facet of our business strives to help women live their best life.”

The funds raised through the ‘Make Mom’s Day’ campaign will support equipment and technology enhancements in the Maternal Care Unit in Saskatchewan. As a way of bettering patient care and creating a family-centred environment, the funds will help give Saskatchewan moms a stress-free hospital experience during labour, birth, and postpartum. For both Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation and Shoppers Drug Mart, maternal health care is a top priority where the need is urgent. It’s all a part of helping to give new moms the best possible start to motherhood, and the best possible start to life for babies.

“This Mother’s Day, we are honouring moms who have set out on the journey of motherhood and give so selflessly to their children,” says Brynn Boback-Lane, President and CEO of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. “With Shoppers Drug Mart and Hillberg & Berk sharing our vision for healthier moms, we are able to provide the highest-quality maternal care to the deserving mothers of our province to help them start this important journey on the right foot. We are so appreciative to have Shoppers Drug Mart and Hillberg & Berk on board for this special occasion of celebrating mothers.”

Maternal care in Saskatchewan’s new Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital will be a place where moms-to-be can labour, give birth and stay with their new baby and supportive partner in an innovative new model of care called Single Room Maternal Care (SRMC). The new provincial hospital will be the largest SRMC facility in Canada. Located on the third floor, there will be three dedicated maternal operating rooms and a Maternal Outpatients Clinic with fetal assessment. Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital is scheduled to open in late 2019.
