Kids win the most with millionaire lottery

Purchasing a lottery ticket means more than you might think. For many, a lottery conjures up images of more cash in the bank, a vacation or a new vehicle, but for Saskatchewan youth, it means hope for a better future.

“When the draws are made on January 30, the biggest winners will be our kids,” said Brynn Boback-Lane, president and CEO of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Becoming a millionaire will be a reality for one lucky winner, but for our province’s youth, life will change thanks to the success of this lottery.”

Built on a partnership with the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation (SRF) and Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation (JPCHF), the Touchdown for Kids Millionaire Lottery will raise funds for programs that empower youth, from amateur sport, education and wellness initiatives. The lottery was designed to ensure Saskatchewan kids can grow up with a wealth of resources available that help them live their best lives.

Funds allocated to JPCHF will be used to purchase urgently-needed medical equipment and technology that is suitable for kids. With doors now open on Saskatchewan’s first-ever dedicated maternal and children’s hospital, funds raised will also support provincial programming to help meet the needs of children and families across the province, regardless of postal code.

Prior to the launch of the Touchdown for Kids Millionaire Lottery, SRF concluded their Friends of the Riders Touchdown Home Lottery in May 2019 after 33 years. To further their mission of empowering youth and communities through the passion of Rider Nation, the Touchdown for Kids Millionaire Lottery was born.

“We are so proud to partner with Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation as it is a perfect alignment with our new Foundation’s community pillars,” said Cindy Fuchs, executive director at Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation. “Part of the need for the Riders club was to give back to the community in a bigger way, and the Foundation allows that to happen.”
