RE/MAX supports kids in hospital year-round

Each August, RE/MAX demonstrates their continued support for children’s health by celebrating the Month of Miracles.

Although agents and brokers rally for kids’ health year-round, this month is dedicated to showcasing the extraordinary work they do on a daily basis.

There are more than 10,000 participating RE/MAX agents and brokers in Canada who support children’s hospitals through the Miracle Home Program, Month of Miracles, and more. Last year, more than $4.5 million was raised by RE/MAX agents in Canada

Realtor Tammi Gloeckler of RE/MAX of Swift Current is one of more than 230 RE/MAX agents across Saskatchewan who supports Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. She knows firsthand how RE/MAX agents’ contributions can make a difference in the lives of Saskatchewan children and families.

Gloeckler’s grandson Emmet was born in June of 2018 and was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called nephronophthisis. It affected his liver and kidneys and he required a transplant for both organs. He was put on nightly dialysis and received numerous surgeries in his 22 months of life. When Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital opened last September, Emmet was one of the first patients to be transferred to the new facility.

While my grandson was in the hospital, I saw many other families struggling with the pain of watching their child deal with medical issues. Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital provides a more comfortable place for families, as their child receives the highest quality of care. The atmosphere of the new children’s hospital is one more of home,” Gloeckler said.

Unfortunately earlier this year, complications arose with an infection in Emmet’s broviac line, which moved into his heart and sadly he passed away on April 10.

“The ending of my grandson’s story wasn’t the one we had hoped for, and sadly, it is sometimes the same one other families face. The more support we have for the children’s hospital, the more happy endings we can help create,” said Gloeckler.

Gloeckler is one of the many RE/MAX agents participating in the Miracle Home Program. When you see a Miracle Home sign on top of a RE/MAX agent’s yard sign, that agent is donating a portion of the sale of the home to their local children’s hospital. Gloeckler said she participates in the program because she believes Saskatchewan’s children’s hospital can provide the highest level of care and research needed to help children overcome their illnesses.

“Many children face life-threatening illnesses, and I like to think that with every donation I make from a listing, maybe it can help even one child have a better chance to overcome that illness,” said Gloeckler. “There is strength in numbers, and the more miracle agents we have, the more miracles we can make happen.”

RE/MAX has been a national sponsor of Children’s Miracle Network since 1992. Since then, RE/MAX agents and offices across Canada have raised more than $79 million to help children receive quality care from their children’s hospitals.
