Santa makes a special visit to Saskatchewan patients at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital

It was a holly jolly day at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH) as Santa Claus made a special trip to visit the children, families, and moms-to-be in hospital during the holidays.

Young patients at JPCH got to visit with Santa in the lobby at JPCH and the Teammates for Kids Child Life Zone, where they told St. Nick what was on their wish list. The children also received a special holiday gift and keepsake photo, thanks to the generosity of Graham Construction.

Santa’s visit was just one part of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Project Holiday Joy initiatives, which aims to bring the joy and cheer of the holiday season to children and families in hospital. Project Holiday Joy activities included special family movie nights in the Family Theatre, Jingle Bingo, decorating gingerbread houses, sugar cookies, stockings and ornaments, making Grinch slime, and plenty of singing and music. The Holiday Market in the Teammates for Kids Child Life Zone gives patients and families an opportunity to shop for a special gift for each other when they aren’t able to leave the hospital. Patients earn “Sunshine Bucks” for completing treatments, having a positive attitude and more, which they can cash to help buy a gift for a special family member. All gifts are complimentary for patients and families, thanks to the generosity of Canpotex.

“Project Holiday Joy activities at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital helps lift the spirits of Saskatchewan children and their families who are unable to go home for the holidays. Thanks to our dedicated sponsors for supporting Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation and this very important initiative, letting our young patients know they are cared for, supported and that sickness doesn’t take a holiday, regardless of the season,” said Brynn Boback-Lane, President & CEO of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation would like to thank the sponsors of Project Holiday Joy, including Graham Construction, Canpotex, Viterra, McDougall Gauley, Action Office Interiors, and Decora Homes.
