Sofina Foods employees make $50,000 donation to Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation

Generous and community-minded Sofina Foods employees across Saskatchewan were proud to present an impactful donation of $50,000 to Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation (JPCHF).

As a dedicated supporter of maternal and children’s health care, Sofina Foundation, the charitable arm of Sofina Foods Inc., has helped provide innovative technology and programming, aiding JPCHF in its mission to provide the best care possible for children and families requiring specialized care at our province’s only dedicated children’s hospital. This gift will continue to connect pediatric patients and their families to engaging therapies that help limit anxiety and allow kids to be kids during their hospital stay.

Sofina employees raised funds through various sales including fresh baking, taco in a bag, 50/50 tickets and playoff polls, as well as hosted two galas. Shari Lindal, Sofina Foods employee and long-standing local Dream Builders’ volunteer, believes the substantial funds raised and the province-wide impact of Sofina’s fundraising efforts for JPCHF surpassed what employees could have imagined.

“It was just a taco in a bag and it was this and it was that, and then all of a sudden it was something bigger. And it’s nice to help not just Wynyard, but the whole province,” said Lindal.

President of the Sofina Foundation, Umeeda Madhany, is proud of her employees’ dedication to raising funds for JPCHF.  “They do their full-time jobs and then give up their personal time to put all these events together. The engagement is always incredible and everyone plays a role in the fundraising. Our employees are absolutely fantastic. They embrace our culture of giving and making a difference,” said Madhany.

This gift will support The Mosaic Child Life Program at Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital to support ongoing programming, increasing the focus on social and emotional impact of illness and hospitalization, and helping to promote positive distraction and experiences for kids during their hospital stay. There are over 1200 Saskatchewan children who rely on these therapies annually.

“We are incredibly grateful to the employees and team of the Sofina Foundation. It is because of your ongoing commitment to raising funds, and keeping your community wellness as a top priority, that children and their families from every corner of Saskatchewan can rely on programming designed to meet their unique needs during their often unpredictable health care journey,” said Laura Gawletz, Philanthropy Manager at Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Thank you Sofina, for your support both within the hospital and through inspiring sponsorships helping enhance maternal and children’s health care in Saskatchewan.”

If your company or employees are interested in how they can help support continued innovation of technology, family-centred programming and ground-breaking research for maternal and children’s health care at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital and across Saskatchewan, please contact Laura Gawletz.
