Special Sleep Room Coming to New Children’s Hospital

Saskatchewan families will get to rest and recharge while staying close to their child in hospital thanks to a generous donation.

Meridian Surveys has gifted $50,000 for a Family Sleep Room at the new Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital. The comfortable and private sleep room will be located in a quiet area on the second floor of the hospital, which is dedicated to Acute Care Pediatrics with 45 inpatient rooms.

The 176-bed hospital will feature private rooms with space for a parent to sleep and stay by their child’s side. If additional space is needed, the sleep room can be used by another family member, or as an alternate quiet space for a parent to sleep away from their child’s room.

“As Saskatchewan’s largest locally owned survey firm, Meridian Surveys is very proud to support Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation,” said Calvin Fowler, president of Meridian Surveys.

Founded in 1966, Meridian Surveys is a leading provider of survey services in the resource, pipeline, and municipal sector. With strong roots in Saskatchewan, the company wanted to give back to children, parents and families from across the province.

“With our head office in Saskatoon and offices in six other cities in Saskatchewan, we recognize the value of having a children’s hospital located in our province,” Fowler said.

“When children are in hospital, it is very important that they have family by their side to help comfort and care for them,” said Brynn Boback-Lane, president and CEO of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We are thankful for this gift, which will ensure families have the energy and focus they need to help their child journey back to health,”

The new hospital is on schedule for opening this fall.
