Tim Hortons Cookies are Back to Support Saskatchewan Children in Hospital
This week marks the sweet return of Tim Hortons annual Smile Cookie campaign running from September 12-18 at participating restaurants across Canada. A full 100% of the proceeds of the $1 cookies sold in the Saskatoon area support the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan. Last year in Saskatoon alone, over 54,700 cookies were sold. Since 2008, local Tim Hortons franchisees have raised $285,000 for Saskatchewan children and families in hospital.
“We are incredibly thankful to everyone who stops by their local Tim Hortons to purchase a Smile Cookie this week,” says Brynn Boback-Lane, President and CEO of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan. “This simple and thoughtful act is a great way to help raise funds for sick and injured children across Saskatchewan who need our help.”
New this year, Tim Hortons has introduced an alternative way to take part in the Smile Cookie campaign. Guests can now show support with the purchase of a Smile Cookie car decal for $1 plus tax, with the full $1 going to local charities.
The Smile Cookie campaign began in 1996 as a way to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario, and has grown to become a major fundraising event at Tim Hortons Restaurants. Nationally, Tim Hortons Restaurant owners support more than 460 local charities, hospitals and community programs through the campaign and last year, the Smile Cookie campaign raised $6.3 million across Canada.
“The purchase of even one Smile Cookie for $1 can truly make an impact in our community,” says Danielle Robson, a Saskatoon Tim Hortons restaurant owner. “We continue to be grateful for the generosity of our guests and restaurant owners who year and after provide much needed support to deserving charities, including the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan.
