Top 5 ways for you to give during socially distant holidays
It’s looking like the holidays will be a little quieter than usual this year. With Covid-19 cases on the rise and physical distancing measures in place, we won’t be gathering in person with friends and family.
Now more than ever, it is so important to spread a little holiday cheer. Here are the top five ways that you can make a difference during socially distant holidays.
1. Donate what you would have spent on entertaining.
Do you typically host holiday gatherings for friends and family this time of year? Take what you normally would have spent on gifts, wrapping paper, food, decorations, drinks and a holiday outfit and make a meaningful donation.
2. Does your company have unused funds?
If your company isn’t having a holiday party this year or if you have unused dollars from your community giving budget, donate to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital. Corporate gifts are vital in providing hope and healing to children, moms-to-be and families across Saskatchewan.
3. Start an online fundraiser with your friends and family.
Host a virtual game night, a digital recipe exchange, or a socially distanced dinner party and raise donations for sick and injured children across Saskatchewan. While we might not be able to gather in person, we can still make time to connect digitally with those we love. Create a free Personal Fundraising Page that will show progress towards your fundraising goal, recognize top donors and make spreading the word a breeze.
4. Honour your friends and family by donating in their name.
Instead of gifts this year, shop the Making Spirits Bright Holiday Giving Catalogue and make a donation in honour of your friends and family. Your gifts will be matched by Conexus Credit Union, and you can send your loved ones a card letting them know the impact of the gift. You can also make a donation in memory of someone important to you who has passed away. It is the perfect way to pay tribute to your loved ones.
5. Join the Sunshine Maker Club.
It’s a great time of year to sign up for our monthly giving program. For $20 a month or more, you can become a member of the Sunshine Maker Club. Small monthly gifts add up to make a significant impact; you will receive a consolidated receipt each year for tax purposes, and your donations will be used to fund urgent maternal and pediatric healthcare needs right here at home.
