Donation from Deloitte Means New Treatment Room for Kids at Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan
January 25, 2017
A $150,000 gift to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan will create a special new space for children receiving treatment for chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and insulin therapy at the new Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan.
The generous donation from Deloitte will fund a Treatment Room within the Day Medicine Unit at the new maternal and children’s hospital, which is scheduled to open in 2019. The Treatment Room will be used to care for children’ requiring infusion therapy for a variety of acute and chronic illnesses while visiting as either an outpatient or inpatient.
“We are proud to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan. Many of us at Deloitte have growing families and understand the need for facilities and healthcare services for children in this province,” says Andrew Coutts, Managing Partner, Deloitte Saskatoon.
Ensuring young patients are comfortable and relaxed while they receive their infusion is important to a child’s overall care with treatments typically last several hours. The new treatment rooms will be equipped with activities and games to help reduce a child’s anxiety and occupy them while they are receiving infusion treatments.
“We are very thankful for the support of Deloitte in helping create a warm, welcoming, and comfortable space for young patients at our province’s new children’s hospital,” says Brynn Boback-Lane, President and CEO of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan. “Specialized treatment rooms are important in helping make the hospital experience just a little bit easier for children and their families during a really difficult time.”
