Get a smile, gift a smile: Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Week Returns
September 11, 2017
It’s sweet and delicious fundraising at its best with the return of Tim Hortons annual Smile Cookie campaign, kicking off today and running until September 17 at participating restaurants across Canada. A full 100% of the proceeds of the $1 freshly baked chocolate chunk cookies sold in the Saskatoon area support Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. Last year in Saskatoon alone, over 71,000 cookies were sold. Since 2008, local Tim Hortons franchisees have raised $356,000 for Saskatchewan children and families in hospital.
“We as owners in Saskatoon and area always want to give back to our community. We chose Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation again this year because we know how important it is that children have a special hospital to call their own. As adults, the hospital can be scary and daunting. For a child, it’s even more dramatic,” says Danielle Robson, a Saskatoon Tim Hortons restaurant owner. “This hospital will make a difference for the care and wellbeing of many Saskatchewan children and we are honoured to be a part of that.”
The Smile Cookie campaign began in 1996 as a way to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario, and has grown to become a major fundraising event at Tim Hortons Restaurants. Last year’s Smile Cookie campaign raised $7.2 million across Canada.
“Purchasing Tim Hortons Smile Cookies is one of the easiest and sweetest ways that you can put a smile on the face of a Saskatchewan child in hospital,” says Brynn Boback-Lane, President and CEO of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We encourage you to stop at Tim Hortons locations in Saskatoon, Martensville, Warman, Davidson and Rosetown this week to pick some up for the office, school, or home as a sweet treat. Your thoughtful generosity will allow us to help support the most urgent needs of our province’s kids in hospital.”
