Thousands help make this Valentine’s Day special for kids in hospital
February 14, 2021
Thousands of people from across Canada helped brighten the day of Saskatchewan kids in hospital by sending personalized Valentine’s Day cards.
The Share the Love Valentine’s Day campaign in partnership with Saskatchewan Blue Cross kicked off on Jan. 27, encouraging people to send personalized cards to kids spending time at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital.
More than 6,000 cards were sent in via pattisonchildrens.ca from over 3,500 people. The Valentine’s Day cards activated a $10 donation to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation from Saskatchewan Blue Cross, up to $10,000.
People chose from three different cards featuring fun fruit phrases such as ‘You are one in a melon!’ and ‘Orange you glad to be my Valentine!’
The cards were then printed and delivered in bundles to dozens of young patients at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital. This year there was also an option to share the love even further, as donors could purchase Valentine’s Day craft kits and cookie decorating kits for the kids in hospital to enjoy.
“We are so excited to see everyone get involved in this incredible campaign and support Saskatchewan kids and families in hospital. Thank you to each person who took the time to personalize a card and help bring joy to the kids celebrating Valentine’s Day in hospital. We are also grateful to Saskatchewan Blue Cross who stepped on board again this year to help make a difference in maternal and children’s health care,” said Brynn Boback-Lane, President and CEO of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.
In addition to the craft and cookie decorating kits, funds raised will support urgently needed equipment, training and research for our province’s babies, moms-to-be, children and families.
