4-H Charity Steer Auction Raises $16,000
It was 1175 pounds of goodwill for the kids of Saskatchewan at the 85th Annual Prince Albert 4-H Regional Finished Beef Show & Sale on June 8th.
The 2015 Charity Steer, weighing in at 1175lbs, was one of 71 steers up for auction and earned a whopping $16,000 for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan. The Weldon 4-H Club gathered a total of $10,000 in donations with Scotiabank stepping in to match the first $5,000. The steer was resold with SGEU and Sask Crop Insurance purchasing the steer for $6,000. The Charity Steer was a true community initiative with the Prince Albert Co-op for donating the feed and Steen Agencies donating insurance.
A big thank you to the 4-H Clubs, families, and Prince Albert Exhibition Association for their incredible support of Saskatchewan kids! The Charity Steer program started in 2001 with local 4-H members having raised almost $110,000 for local charities.
