Dairy Queen Miracle Treat Day: 16 Years of Making Miracles Happen

Blizzard Treats are meant to be eaten, but on Thursday, August 9, they will do so much more. Dairy Queen Canada invites Saskatchewan to help make miracles happen by taking part in Miracle Treat Day. On August 9, Dairy Queens across the province will donate net proceeds from each Blizzard Treat Sold to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation – the only Saskatchewan member of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

“We look forward to this day all year because it’s fun for Blizzard fans, but it also helps so many kids,” says Martensville Dairy Queen franchisee Heather Karpan, whose 12-year-old child Nicko makes regular hospital visits for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus treatment. “Miracle Treat Day holds special meaning in our hearts and in the hearts of many other Saskatchewan families who will be helped. Once you look into the eyes of one of these kids, you’ll see why this fundraising is so important.”

“The impact that is made from a simple Blizzard Treat purchase goes a long way in helping the sick and injured kids of our province have access to lifesaving care,” says Tanner Braaten, Manager, Development and Engagement at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We are so excited to have Dairy Queen and the people of Saskatchewan on board once again for this special day that gives our families hope for a better tomorrow.

Since the partnership between Dairy Queen and Children’s Miracle Network began in 1984, Dairy Queen has become a top corporate contributor with $135 million raised to-date in support of sick and injured children across North America. In Saskatchewan alone last year, $246,268 was raised across 43 locations. Dairy Queen locations will also be accepting donations on Miracle Treat Day. The funds raised will help provide access to urgent equipment needs and help critical treatment and health care services, pediatric medical equipment, and family-centred care through Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.
