Health care professionals receive high-grade CPR equipment through Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation grant

Yearly CPR recertification is now more accessible to the medical professionals at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH) with the purchase of high-grade infant, child and adult CPR mannequins, thanks to the generous support of donors through a grant funded by Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation (JPCHF).

Equipped with feedback devices that give immediate information on the rate, depth and recoil of cardiac compressions, these mannequins greatly improve each trainee’s ability to give high-quality CPR and will help nurses keep the over 66,000 babies and children* who visit JPCH annually safe. Nurses and Clinical Nurse Educators are thrilled with this new helpful addition of state-of-the-art equipment.

“I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the JPCHF grant that allowed us to purchase CPR equipment for JPCH. As the clinical nurse educator for (the) Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), I found that I was limited in planning education and simulation due to (a) lack of equipment availability and aging equipment that was available to me before the purchase of this new equipment,” said Judy Kay-Stewart, Clinical Nurse Educator.

“Better access to better equipment has made CPR training much simpler to plan and deliver and has resulted in better quality education. Increased availability and quality of equipment has also allowed me to enhance my orientations and in-house education with more simulations and skills stations,” Judy continued.
