Regina Boy to Serve as New Champion Child Ambassador
The Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan announces new Champion Child who will serve as an international ambassador for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan and all sick and injured children of this province
The Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan, along with associates from Walmart stores across the region, joined together at Walmart Regina South today for the launch of 2011 Champions program, presented by Walmart. During the ceremony, Ethan Cook was officially announced as the 2011 Saskatchewan Champion Child.
Ethan is an amazing five-year-old who is a true champion. From birth, feeding Ethan was a constant challenge as he would often choke and vomit. He spent weeks in the hospital before being diagnosed with tracheal malasia and laryngo malasia. After 5 surgeries, Ethan has triumphed past these obstacles and is now able to eat solid foods.
Every year, the Children’s Miracle Network identifies a child with a remarkable medical story from each province. These children serve as ambassadors for their hospitals by sharing their incredible stories of courage and determination. In October, Ethan and his family will attend Children’s Miracle Network festivities in Ottawa along with the other Canadian Champions. The family will then travel to Disney World in Orlando with the Children’s Miracle Network Champions from across North America. At today’s event, Ethan and his family were presented with a $1,000 Walmart shopping card to prepare for their trip to Ottawa and Orlando.
